Turning

To meet the demands for precision and production speed, Cometo has established a highly specialized turning department. Here, a team of skilled operators works on five CNC lathes, all equipped with advanced technologies to ensure the highest quality and efficiency in machining. The lathes at our disposal include:

  • CNC machine with C axis lathe and bars dispenser
  • CNC machine with counter-spindle, C axis lathe and bars dispenser
  • CNC machine with C axis lathe and anthropomorfous robot for automatic loading/unloading

These machines, combined with the expertise of our operators, guarantee exceptional precision, making the production process faster and more efficient.

Milling

In the milling department, Cometo utilizes technologically advanced machines that optimize production operations. The latest-generation milling machines help reduce processing times, improve efficiency, and lower costs.

  • Three multi-pallet horizontal milling centers, enabling continuous and highly precise machining
  • One CNC milling machine, providing complete control over milling processes and ensuring uncompromised quality

These advanced tools are essential for maintaining high production standards and meeting customer demands with speed and excellence.

Assembly

Cometo has always focused on speed and precision, even in the assembly phase of its equipment.

In May 2019, the company completed the construction of four automated vertical storage systems, featuring 320 drawers and a total capacity of 240,000 kg. This investment has optimized the management of components required for assembly, further improving delivery speed for customers.

The automated storage system is integrated in real-time with our company ERP, allowing for efficient retrieval requests, inventory updates, and seamless handling of loading and unloading operations.

Thanks to this technology, Cometo provides an even more responsive and precise service, aligning with Industry 4.0 principles and meeting the demands of an increasingly discerning clientele.

Quality Control

At Cometo, quality control is a fundamental part of our production process. To ensure maximum precision and compliance with promised tolerances, we use advanced tools and rigorous verification procedures.

Among the technologies we employ is a Mitutoyo measuring machine, which allows us to perform highly precise dimensional checks, ensuring that each component meets the required standards. In addition to this equipment, we implement additional inspection and testing methods, carried out by specialized personnel, to monitor every stage of production.

Thanks to this approach, we can provide our customers with reliable, high-quality products that fully comply with technical specifications.

Although Cometo SRL has a strong in-house production capacity, it also relies on external processing performed by highly specialized and experienced suppliers. These treatments are essential to ensure the quality and optimal performance of our products while meeting customer specifications and the highest industry standards.

Heat Treatments

Heat treatment is a fundamental process that modifies the physical and mechanical properties of metals and metal alloys. It consists of a thermal cycle involving heating to predetermined temperatures, followed by controlled cooling, which can be slow or rapid depending on the requirements. This process helps achieve specific structures that impart desired mechanical and technological characteristics to the material. In particular, the heating and cooling rates play a crucial role in the quality of the treatment, directly affecting the resulting structure.

The primary heat treatments applied to the materials used in Cometo’s equipment include:

  • Hardening: Strengthening the metal through heating and rapid immersion in a cooling fluid.
  • Annealing: Softening the metal to improve its workability.
  • Tempering: Reducing internal stresses in the material to enhance toughness.
  • Carburizing: Enriching the metal’s surface with carbon to increase resistance.

For these treatments, Cometo relies on qualified suppliers with extensive industry experience, ensuring the best results and meeting the highest quality standards.

Grinding

The grinding is a machining carried out by means of a grinding machine equipped with a fine grain, extremely hard quern. This process allows for achieving the desired shape and surface finish of a component by removing any residual material left from rough machining. While roughing focuses on eliminating excess material, grinding refines the surface, ensuring an optimal finish with precise tolerances.

The grinding operations performed on Cometo components include both cylindrical and surface grinding, executed by experienced suppliers who guarantee consistent quality and flawless machining for each component.

Burnishing

Burnishing is a treatment that provides metal components with both an aesthetic and protective finish. In addition to enhancing the product’s appearance with various color options, this process plays a crucial role in protecting the metal against oxidation.

This treatment serves as an additional guarantee of quality for the customer, ensuring that the product maintains its efficiency and precision over time without deterioration.
